Become a Foster Family

Do you love dogs and/or cats? Are you interested in being an important part of the journey for a dog or cat to their new home? Do you want to make a difference to help the pet overpopulation problem in our community?

If you answer yes to these questions, we’d love to have you become a member of our SPOT Foster Family!

The best way to help homeless dogs and cats is by fostering. As we do not have a shelter, we are only able to help rescue pets if we have available foster homes. We do our best to ensure that our dogs and cats do not stay in your home longer than asked because we’re committed to moving them to their new homes. SPOT will help with veterinary needs, vaccinations, medications, food and supplies as needed; and you just provide a home and lots of TLC. Complete the form below to become a foster.

Fostering Saves Lives!

I assume all risks and responsibility once he/she is in my care and that SPOT is not in any way responsible for such costs incurred. I understand that I am solely responsible for the care of my foster dog/cat and I mustn't allow anyone else to care for them ("re-foster") without first contacting SPOT at wcspot@hotmail.com and receiving their knowledge and consent. The pets you foster with SPOT are ALREADY COMMITTED the day they enter your home. They may not and cannot be adopted locally. We understand the attachment foster parents have with their foster pets, and we are thankful that you care so much. However, we place our transfer partnerships at risk when we attempt to keep a promised pet in Wharton County. This policy is not a reflection on how we feel about you as a foster; we promise it is not personal. It is a policy that must be enforced if SPOT is to remain successful. If you feel you will not be able to let go of your foster at the end of his or her time with you, we advise you that fostering for SPOT is most likely not a good match.
